There is a fair amount of Victorian furniture in today's Grand View sale and the lot that popped out from the rest for me was #129 - the Pottier & Stymus-attributed, mirrored credenza, above. There are some other famous cabinetmakers' wares in this sale including John Henry Belter and J & JW Meeks. The bedstead with ebonized accents shown below is also a standout, though the photos don't do it justice. If you want to get in on the action, bidding starts at 11:00 am PST. You can browse all the lots here.

I had my eye on that P&S credenza earlier in February when it was at Cowan's auction in Ohio (lot #357). It sold for $4,406.25 (including premium) back in Feb...another example of how the good antiques get bought up and re-sold down south. I think one or more other items from that Cowan auction were re-sold at the Grand View...a bookcase comes to mind. Speaking of bookcases, I have been the under-bidder on each of 4 bookcases that I have bid on in the last year. I'm most sad about the nice one that one that sold at Stuart Holman ($3,250, excluding premium...equal to my high bid, but out-of-phase). Looks like that one was a real beauty, but shipping costs keep my bids capped. - Jason

yeah, shipping can be a pretty big deal on a large piece of furniture

I watched the auction on line, and it appeared that the good stuff all did pretty well--testament to the stability I think of the high end.

$4,594 Seems A Bit Steep

There must have been a few bidders that REALLY wanted this Victorian-era terrarium. Either they know something about it that I don't know or they had some excess money on hand that they wanted to part with. This terrariu
