Pictured to the left is a very nice Rococo sofa made in the 1850-1860 time period. Since this particular sofa is solid rosewood, it is of a quality level that is above much of the furniture of the time, but it is not a Belter as the seller thinks it could be. Belter did not do 3-piece backs on sofas to my knowledge and the carvings on the knees and crests are not Belter style. It's interesting to note the Rococo design (finger moldings and overall shape) combined with Renaissance carvings on the crests and skirt. Condition is very nice and certainly deserves a healthy price. Similar furniture can be seen on pages c-48 and c-49 of The Big Book of Antique Furniture by Lindquist and Warren.
