Considering the recent flurry of Hunzinger mania at the auctions as you remember from this post, and the fact that a "Hunzinger" shaving mirror went for $3,700 this past weekend. I thought I'd reward the Rare Victorian readers by pointing them to a possible Hunzinger fern stand that you can score for about 1/10th the cost of that shaving stand - $350 and possibly less at Red Barn antiques in New Egypt, New Jersey. This shop is a new find for me and I was impressed by their inventory which is primarily Victorian. I don't have a lot of good Victorian shops to haunt in my region, so this was a welcome discovery.
Be aware that there is a major crack in the top of this stand and that is why it is so inexpensive. Many of these tables have had this problem and you will find them with replacement tops. Even one of the tables in the Barry Harwood Hunzinger book has had a top replacement. If you have the book, see pages 80-83 for a comparison to the table above.
If you call or visit Red Barn, Ask for Jeff or Dan and tell them John at RareVictorian.com sent you. First one to Red Barn gets it...
